CAN'T SLOW DOWN Sometimes when my weary brain hits the bed I feel I’m in a crowded cinema Like an all night, re-run movie marathon But I want some peace and quiet instead Sometimes when I kneel down to pray To the Holy Ghost, Father, Son My inner secretary starts to stray To remind me what I haven’t done I can’t slow down I really wanna Sniff the flowers meet the neighbours that I never see I can’t slow down But I want more in my life than me I thought successful people learnt to inhale their food While finishing sentences for you Re-drafting novels on their mobile phones And satisfying their partners in a minute or two...lucky you

STANDING ON SHOULDERS I saw that photo for the first time When I was a child That little box of yellow letters Did not seem worthwhile Now the tree has grown older And many colours change I balance standing on their shoulders And turn the page Sometimes they’re lifting me up or bringing me down There’s a beginning and an end When you’re standing on shoulders You’d be amazed to see what I found Standing on shoulders a sight to see for miles ‘round Felt that I was moving forward The further back I peered Finally found I was a story Being steered A poignant time a decision made a genetic carried dream In the midst of evolution a reoccurring theme When you’re standing on shoulders You’d be amazed to see what I found Standing on shoulders a sight to see for miles ‘round Standing on shoulders ancestors understanding…standing The gift that no-one has to start from zero in this long parade The embryo secretly formed becomes design secretly made Some say we’re moving backwards an opinion I do not subscribe Understand life’s dreams and colours We can somehow recognise When you’re standing on shoulders You’d be amazed to see what I found Standing on shoulders a sight to see for miles ‘round Standing on shoulders You’d be amazed to see what I found Standing Standing Standing

about

This was a limited edition release which is no longer being pressed. So there are about 1000 lucky copies out there!

Can’t Slow Down featured 3 studio tracks and 4 live tracks recorded at Fairbridge Festival in 2004 (through a tiny video camera!). The studio tracks were recorded at In The Room studio with Dave Parry. One of the tracks - Standing on Shoulders - was given new life on Andrew’s 2009 Surface Tension album. We have left one of the live tracks off this site due to poor audio quality.
